As a teaching assistant, she was always supportive of the students and an understanding ear. She was also generous with her time to assist the special ed teachers by making copies or organizing paperwork, even though it was not a part of her job description. She was a happy face to see every morning and she would always ask how i was doing. She dwelled on the positive. I got a cancer diagnosis this year and she was very supportive. She was not in school when I returned from my surgery and when I saw her at a memorial service for one of the PCAs who worked at Pennridge High School, I asked her how she was and told her I was worried about her, she told me not to worry about her and how was I doing.

I am so sad to hear of her passing. She will be sorely missed at Pennridge High school.

Story shared: Long Time Friend http://steeleyfh.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/61364/runtime.php?SiteId=61364&NavigatorId=663142&ItemId=2979323&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story6765045 Lisa and I met when I first came to Pennridge High School 17 years ago.  At that time the special education teachers had the pleasure of having the teaching assistance with us in our self contained classes.  Although Lisa was not assigned to work with me, we ate lunch together everyday in my classroom. I was able to get to know Lisa on a personal level.  I admired her sense of humor, her humbled spirit and her love for her children.  We had a lot of laughs discussing our children and comparing notes since they were the same age as mine.  Together, we fretted about the "teenage age stuff", the heartbreaks, the cost of colleges and our children's future.  We gave each other advice and enjoyed sharing our family stories with each other. As time went on, things changed at the high school and I did not get to see Lisa as often.  There were some years when she was with me in my co-taught class and other years when I only got to see her in the hallways.  Yet no matter when we saw each other, we picked up where with left off.   Catching up on the kids, asking how things were going and having a laugh together.  LIsa was true to herself and was truely a genuine person. She said what she felt and she felt what she said.  I admired her candor and her ability to see things how they really were.  We have lost a very special person. My heart goes out to her family and friends. I will miss her dearly.

She enjoyed the times they had spent together.  Of course Lisa enjoyed sharing the stories of how proud she was of Kylie and Brian.  We are all moms and that was always the topics of our lunch conversations.  We heard how proud she was of Kylie and her art job on the cruise lines and how excited she was for Kylie to get to see the world.  She was always so proud of Kylie's artistic abilities as Lisa had that talent and shared that many times to decorate our Room #105.  Brian your mom shared with us the stories from your Phildadelphia teaching job.  It definitely made our jobs look easy.  She worried about you but she always knew your future was going to be amazing.  She loved her family and of course her dog.  We will miss her stories she shared.  I know besides her family she loved the students and coworkers at PHS and dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of others.  I was very fortunate to have met Lisa and I will never forget the years that we shared at PHS.  I am very sorry that we have suffered this loss.  I pray for comfort and peace for her family and all who knew Lisa.

With Deepest Sympathy,

Linda Johnston

Lisa was a sweet person who cared about the students she assisted. She participated as a volunteer for PHS Mini-Thon, enjoying every minute that she could give for a good cause to help another human being. She supported students outside the classroom  by attending sports, art, music and theatre programs.  She loved to garden outside and brought cheery gardens with motivating and inspirational messages to our lunch room bulletin boards. Lisa adored her children, Kylie and Brian and enjoyed visits with her extended family.  Lisa will be deeply missed by many that knew her humble and giving heart !

With Deepest Sympathy,

Lynda Ziegler

Story shared: A caring person http://steeleyfh.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/61364/runtime.php?SiteId=61364&NavigatorId=663142&ItemId=2979323&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story6764447 I too met Lisa at Pennridge High School years ago.  She cared about the students in her classes.  She also was always a good listener.  When she had lunch 4th period sometimes I would go down just to catch up with her and keep her company.  She'd patiently listen to what I had to say knowing that somtimes I just needed to talk.

She was a very creative and modest person. We all enjoyed her wonderful, cheery bulletin boards that added a ray of sunshine to our IPC where we ate lunch.  When we'd compliment her on her beautiful work she'd just pass it off as if it was nothing.  The personal touches meant a lot to us though and the fact that she had spent so much of her own time to make things brighter for all of us.

I will miss her!

Lucy

Story shared: My coworker http://steeleyfh.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/61364/runtime.php?SiteId=61364&NavigatorId=663142&ItemId=2979323&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story6764420 Lisa was my coworker at Pennridge High School for many years.  As classroom teaching assistants every school year was a new adventure since we could be assigned to work in any subject area for any grade level -- ninth through twelfth.

During any given year Lisa  might have worked with  6-7 different teachers each day.  It was kind of like having 6-7 different bosses but she rolled with it and was always concerned about the students in her classes, showing kindness and compassion.

Additionally, Lisa kept our  (other teaching assistants)  spirits up by creating beautiful bulletin boards with positive, inspirational quotes.

She made a difference in many lives and will be greatly missed.

Sally
